About repertoire and other disputes
Abstract
This work addresses some theoretical and conceptual controversies in the research and teaching of architecture and urban design, transcribing an intellectual dialogue between two senior teachers. First, the arguments of teacher Maria Lúcia Malard are presented, contrary to the understanding of architecture as language and contesting the usefulness of some didactic / pedagogical strategies for the “formation of repertoire” in project teaching. Next, the replica of teacher “B” is presented, which justifies the relevance and usefulness of these strategies, emphasizing the importance of pre-existences in the cultural process. The debate is open. It is expected to continue, towards the examination of other controversies.
