For an experience of the landscape
the production of modern space in the work of Roberto Burle Marx
Abstract
From a complex set of influences and problematic relationships, the experience of modern spatiality in Brazil had its most powerful results in the constant tensions between architecture and landscape (built or natural). Thus, this work seeks to bring some questions about the work of the landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx and his path in the definition of a modern esthetics of the landscape, by placing landscaping as a form of artistic manifestation no more subsidiary to architecture but, on the contrary, as an expanded disciplinary field focused on the modern gesture of intervening and drawing the territory itself.
