Reflections on the scope of tectonics
Abstract
The history of contemporary architecture is inevitably multiple, even multifaceted; a history of the structures that form the human environment independently of architecture itself; a history of attempts to control and direct these structures; a history of the intellectuals who sought to invent policies and methods for such attempts; a history of new languages that, having abandoned all hope of arriving at absolute and definitive words, have endeavored to delimit the area of their particular contribution.
