Lina Deciphered
Abstract
In this hybrid publication of biography and monograph, Zeuler Lima deftly explores the prolific and remarkable life, as well as the idiosyncratic and intriguing work of Italian-Brazilian architect Lina Bo Bardi (1914-1992), one of the most influential professionals who worked in Latin America in the 20th century. Lina Bo Bardi's international performance was posthumously recognized and achieved "star architect" status, as Berry Bergdoll's stimulating preface accompanying the 2013 English-language edition pointed out. Based on extensive and careful archival research, Zeuler Lima's well-paced and insightful narrative aligned Lina Bo's life and work history with complex and critical moments in Brazil's contemporary history.
